The Junior Photographers – Summer Through My Lens: National Photography Competition for Kids is now open for entries from children ages 5–18. Young photographers are encouraged to submit a photo that captures the essence of summer — whether it’s nature, people, or personal perspective. Three winners will be selected in each of the four age groups, and all winning entries will be featured in the Junior Photographers Website.
Eligibilty & Competition Rules:
- Open to children aged 5-18(K-12) residing in the USA.
- No Previous Professional experience required.
- There are four categories within the 5-18 age group: 5-8, 9-11, 12-14, and 15-18. Make sure to submit the artwork in correct category.
- Each Child can submit one entry per competition.
- Photos must be the original work of the participant. We reserve rights to verify the artwork from the art teacher/school. Photos taken should NOT be altered/modified using computer or camera.
- You must NOT use AI in anyway.
- Accepted formats: JPEG, PNG. If you are using iPhone, export it before submitting to the competition.
Judging Criteria:
- Effort & Intent: Does the photo reflect care, thoughtfulness, or planning? We recognize effort at every age level.
- Technical Quality: Is the photo clear and well-composed? Are lighting, focus, and framing used effectively (based on age group)?
- Emotional Impact: Does the photo tell a story or make the viewer feel something? Is there a strong mood or message?
- Relevance to Theme: Does the photo clearly connect to this month’s theme?
